27SGR Installation InstructionsInstallation Instructions
In addition to the included parts, you may need a couple of parts depending on the year of your V-Rod to complete the installation. Some VRSCA models have a chrome bezel around the instrument cluster and clam shell housing. These models may require two additional short screws to mount the gauge to the bracket in the new air box cover. The chrome bezel may also need to have the long chrome piece that rests on the top of the clam shell trimmed or a new bezel can be purchased from your dealer that does not need trimming. Air Box Modifications: First relocate the sensor located in the top of the air box housing.
Unclip the sensor from the top housing unit and clip on to female port. Leaving the sensor unplugged will cause the engine light will remain on. Next the forward throttle stack must be shortened. You can cut your existing one or order an extra from your local dealer and cut it. The stack must be shortened to allow clearance below the new, flat cover. Now you have the necessary clearance for the 27SGR to be mounted the same way the stock air box cover mounts. Before doing so, reroute the gauge wiring harness to the airbox area and mount the gauge to the 27SGR using two short screws. Leave the screws loose until after you snap the bezel into the air box cover to ensure proper fit. After snapping the bezel in place, tighten the screws on the back, fasten the wiring harness and mount the airbox cover. Replace the maxi fuse and you are ready to roll. You may need to retune to get maximum performance from the new air set-up. |
